The Changing Nature of Work
The World Bank is launching a competition for students for input into the next World Development Report 2019: “The Changing Nature of Work”. The draft Report is available online for public review and is updated every Friday: http://pubdocs.worldbank.org/en/816281518818814423/2019-WDR-Draft-Report.pdf. The Report analyzes the impact of technology on workers and firms, the implications for human capital accumulation, and potential social protection reforms to help with the adjustment.
We would appreciate any assistance you can provide in raising awareness of the competition among your students. You can find a recent tweet here: https://twitter.com/wb_research/status/1018940898955157505.The competition provides an opportunity for students to share real-life stories that illustrate the issues discussed in the Report. In particular, we want to know how different actors, including governments, cities, universities, firms, or individuals, are taking advantage of opportunities created by the changing nature of work. Competition guidelines can be accessed here: http://www.worldbank.org/en/publication/wdr2019/brief/world-development-report-2019-competition-guidelines
Three cash prizes of $5000 each will be awarded to the students providing the winning examples. Submissions should be sent directly to the WDR Team (wdr2019@worldbank.org) by August 31, 2018. Prizes will be awarded on October 1, 2018.
